The Yiling River Bridge crosses the Yangtze River in Yichang City, where the famous Three Gorges Hydropower Station Project is located. Here, the average river width is 730 m, and water depth is variable between 15 m and 35 m at the river center in different seasons.
The deck carries 4 roadways and 2 pedestrian walkways, each 2 m wide.
The Yiling Yangtze River Bridge is a continuous cable-stayed structure with 2 main spans of 348 m and side spans of 120 m supported by piers at 40 m intervals with a total length of 936 m. The three concrete pylons have an inverted “Y” shape above the deck, and are almost of the same shape harmonizing with the surroundings.
