The training base for Chinese disabled people is a public welfare establishment in Shanghai, where disabled people can receive art and sports training. The swimming gymnasium is an important
part of this base. The outline of this building looks like a huge silvery
white bow. The building facade is a long arch and the side face is
a trapezoid. The unconventional architectural style and the application of a new kind of steel made the structural design unique and complex.
Considering the highly corrosive environment, moist air containing chlorine, in the swimming gymnasium and the longer escape time needed for disabled people in the event of a fire, the anti-corrosion requirement and fire rating for this structure is stricter than for common public buildings. The fireresistant and corrosion-resistant steel developed in China was first applied in this structure.
