The SSTL consists of a main building, auxiliary buildings and a sunken square. It covers a site area of
68 000 m2 and has a total of 96 000 m2 of building area. The four floor main building is designed in a semi-circular plan.
The building's structure is constructed with a prestressed space frame system. A single-layer latticed dome structure was selected for the center hall in accordance with the function and shape of the building. Pipe sections are used in the steel dome with a drum-type joint system and I-section members are used in the aluminum dome with a plate-type joint system. In order to ensure the safety and rational of the structural design, theoretical and experimental
