The Westerscheldetunnel is situated in the south-west of the Netherlands and connects Central Zeeland to Zeeuwsch-Vlaanderen. The complete project consists of a bored tunnel under the Westerschelde with accesses on the North and South bank, access roads, viaducts, a toll plaza in the North and various viaducts to cross roads, waterways and railway lines. The road starts in the North where it is linked to the N254 between Goes and Middelburg and ends in Zeeuwsch-Vlaanderen with a connection to the N61. The total length of the motorway is about 22 km The tunnel roads are built as single lane roads with one lane in each direction, but the designers have anticipated a future expansion to two-lane roads.
