Eiland Bridge, Kampen, The Netherlands
C. Kuilboer, The Netherlands

The 412 m long Eiland Bridge across the river IJssel was brought into service in January 2003. It is situated near the city of Kampen in the eastern part of The Netherlands and is part of a new road to improve the connection between the cities of Zwolle and Emmeloord. This new road consists of two lanes, with the possibility of future enlargement. This future requirement is a determinant for the width of the Eiland Bridge and the constant slope of 2,5% in cross direction. Whenever the need arises for more lane, a similar bridge will be built on the east-side. The total width of the Eiland Bridge is 18,78 m with a 13 m wide motorway.
